  1. I would like to have Mr. Swan’s views on independence and if given the chance would he like to take Bermuda there.

What efforts are being made to bring the 3 MP’s back to the UBP fold?

Are you prepared to bite the bullet and encourage the UBP change its name?

  2. So I should just take your inferior product offering because I am responsible for securing jobs of those affected by retail?

Maybe retailers, you should try expanding your offering and providing better service. The shopping environment is oppressive and makes me not want to go into the stores. When furnishing my home we entered every single furniture store and couldn’t find anything that we saw even close to what we wanted for our home, so we HAD to go overseas.

I understand that prices will be higher but maybe if the service was better and product level was higher we would be more likely to shop here.

  3. Please continue this discussion. You have only  scratched the tip of the iceberg.

  4. We need to get back to the times when we respected the older generation. We need to see them as vessels of wisdom and ones that can help us mature and keep traditions alive for future generations.

We need to get back to the times when your word was your word. People have to start letting their nay be nay and their yea be yea no matter what. If we cannot be men and women of our word how can we expect our children to know any different. We need to teach our children the importance of being a person of character. If you have nothing else people should be able to know that they can count on you, that you are a person of integrity.

Bermuda, we need to get back to a time when we were our brother’s keeper. When we looked out for each other and helped those in need, those that were hungry or those that needed shelter. We need to get back to loving each other – when we placed people before a dollar. Can’t you feel the labor pains of this society!! We all need to stand up and take action and restore Bermuda to the “good old days” that we have heard our grandparents talk about!! It can be done but it starts with each one of us taking a stand for a better Bermuda. Let’s leave our children a heritage and island where they can live in peace and not one where they long for the “good old days” where morals and traditions don’t exist!!!

    Be Blessed

  5. For January 11, 2010 Show (Physical Abuse)

Many topics touched on as to “why” i.e. lack of stable family values (training up a child in the way he/she should go), low self esteem, non communication in families, the loss of a sense of togetherness from youth, unresolved anger, the avoidance of positive confrontation of that which is wrong etc.

Much can be evidenced in our society today with the fear of individuals to come out and witness or testify against those who are placing our country under a total blanket of fear.

Again, there needs to be an acceptance by families to identify what SHOULD be the norm and the concerted effort to change what is the norm in their homes.

There are many resources in our community to assist in this, however many do not take advantage of them. Individuals MUST make and take the time to educate themselves of a better way to live.

Many of our younger generation is learning their values by television and music – much of which reflects the dark side of our society.

Many of our older generation is avoiding dealing with the obvious or even accepting the blame for their actions and then dealing with them.

Stuck in the middle are the perpertrators.

  6. As a victim of physical abuse I do not press charges because I am terrified of going to court. In addition to this police if police have been to someone’s house numerous of times and get the same report every time shouldn’t they be able to investigate the abuser or remove them from their household or something; especially if it is disturbing the peace? I as a victim feel that police do nothing to help or protect people that are being abused. If a police officer clearly sees marks and believes the abuser’s story don’t you think there clearly something wrong. Also in Bermuda we need more Bermudian police officers rather than rude disrespectful immigrants that don’t even know how to do their job right.

  7. The Premier has decided to move all processes related to the tendering of government contracts under her office which is unprecented. Does this amount to an admission that the process under previous administrations was being abused?
